   Recognizing Cursive
It may take you a little while to get used to reading cursive writing. Still, you are such a good reader by now that it won’t be long before you’re reading cursive easily.
Look at the cursive letters below. Write the matching manuscript letter. You can check page 60 if you need help.

• Read the title and the introductory sentences aloud or have a volunteer read.
• Explain that students will be learning to read cursive letters as they learn to write them. Remind them that many cursive and manuscript letters are similar.
Practice
• Ask a volunteer to read aloud the directions on the page. Remind students that they can refer to the previous page with the cursive and manuscript letters together if they need help identifying a letter.
• Have students complete the page by writing the manuscript form of each cursive letter. Circulate and offer assistance as needed.
