Keep the Size Focus
iI Drama is a play to be read or performed on a stage. Readers learn the
story by understanding what the characters say to one another. The actual words the characters say is called dialogue. Stage directions tell what the characters do.

KATIA: They said on TV that Lela Ramos is missing.
Rewrite the following as a play. Use manuscript writing, or printing. Don’t forget stage directions.
“Please come in here,” Dad called from the kitchen.
Gabriela sauntered into the kitchen. “What’s up?” she asked.
“I’ll tell you what’s up,” Dad said as he pointed to the counters.
“Oops,” said Gabriela, as she looked at her toes. “Guess I forgot to clean up after I made nachos.”
